History & Philosophy

The company has been based in Mutriku, a village in northern Spain between San Sebastian and Bilbao, since 1948 when they began producing surgical instruments. Under the name of “Industrias Quirugicas Reunidas” (United Surgical Industries), it produced scissors for the Spanish market.

In 1960, the German multinational AESCULAP AG took over the company and continued to produce high-end surgical instruments under the name of AESCULAP Motric until February 2005.

Today, the former AESCULAP production is an independent enterprise. Under new management and the new name of METEC Motric S.A. Medizintechnik, the company continues to produce and sell high-end surgical instruments.

Almost sixty years of experience and accumulated knowledge have proved the best qualifications for us to continue to produce medical products at the highest level.

Manufacturing high-end surgical instruments combined with a customer-oriented service are, and will, remain our main objectives. Therefore, METEC Motric S.A. Medizintechnik is able to offer its customers a complete after-sales service which includes a technical service in its repair centre.

METEC Motric S.A. Medizintechnik is certified by DIN ISO 900:2000 and EN 13485:2003 as well the directive 93/42 EWG.
